Jostel Hason states, "I can do without water but I need music to quench my soul." This statement is not as profound as the work found on his site. Jostel's style is a hybrid of Mother of Invention [Zappa], Donovan [Maybe], Ozzy flavored vocals, dark acoustic guitars, socially aware lyrics, a bit of grunge, a bit of emo, a bit of harmonica and a hint of old school 'rap' [oh yeah I said that]. One of my favorite lyrical expressions "tattooed ink angel hand me down...
He's right. No one really sounds like this, and that is a quality I personally gravitate towards. Jostel takes the harmonica into new territories and the music overall has many unexpected twists and turns... a great example of this is "In Your Whirl" at 0:46 (one of my favorite Jostel tracks).. and there are many all throughout that one... Another favorite track of mine is "ClarVoyance". I love it when the drums kick in in the begining...and great separation of guitar...
A man who writes with fervor, his lyrics tell stories (not to be confused with fiction) of his life, both past and present. It is his strength that allows his soul to be completely naked not concerned with those who may judge a man whom to me has many different layers. These layers of Jostel are something that can’t just be pulled away and dissected with ease. His music gives us that insight into these many different layers. I say insight because there are layers of Jostel that haven’t...
Jostel Hason writes passionately in styles that crossover many genres. There is diversity in his songs and truly a soulful depth. Herein lies the free spirit of this artist.
